Haunted Trail Haunted Trail

Closing November 2 - Leech Woods is a thirty minute immersive haunted trail experience of dark terror. We promise a night of chain saws, clowns and dark corners. When you are done screaming, we offer amazing food and drinks, four bonfires, DJ booth, fortune telling and other forms of entertainment every night to keep you entertained. According to Montgomery County historical land records, the present site of Leech Woods was originally settled by Warwick and Jeanne Leech and their six children sometime in early 1790. Having immigrated from Hungary, the family chose Damascus, Maryland based on its temperate climate and heavily wooded region which reminded them of their homeland. The Leech family store thrived as the leading local merchant of hides, furs and hunting supplies. During the disastrous Winter of 1804, the Leech family store was robbed and vandalized by unknown attackers and the body of John Leech, the youngest son, was found nailed to the back wall of the store. The remaining bodies of the family members were later found bludgeoned and bound inside of the root cellar of their homestead. No further information about the attackers or motives for the killings are known. ​ Remnants of the Leech family homestead still stands deep in the woods where the present Leech Woods experience is built. The Leech Woods immersive experience follows the original walking path from the site of the Leech family hunting supply store to the remnants of the original family homestead. As the property was classified as a historical site in 1972, no artifacts may be removed and we ask that you respect the privacy of the grave sites.

American Celebration on Parade at Shenandoah Caverns turns into a 40,000 square foot haunted attraction on American Fright Night during weekends in October.

Emily Redvÿn turned her own residence into an orphanage in 1781. Calling it providence home for wayward children, the facility was known to accept children who were abandoned, those with mental and physical handicaps, addictions, or just needing guidance. A century after emily’s execution for being a witch, providence reopened in the 1930’s with new ownership under the stewardship of the baron and governess. Then again after a fire in 1946 closed the orphanage down for good, in 1987 the campers and counselors at camp ashland decided to fix up the house and throw their annual halloween bash for local residents. Step inside red vein’s main indoor haunted house attraction, which includes over 40 highly detailed scenes, incredible scares, spinning tunnels, giant monsters, special effects, and screams around every corner.

Woods Woods

Crooked white trees that hanged the ashland witch created a barrier to the other side. These same woods were home to a traveling sideshow that heard its final call and ended their lives in ritualistic sacrifice. As branches form into jagged triangles, ancient creatures stalk the brush, craving flesh and blood. In 1987, the woods were used for campers to learn hunting and fishing. The white trees were covered in red after the massacre at camp ashland. Witch’s woods is an outdoor maze that includes uniquely memorable characters, classic set pieces and will lead you straight to providence.

In the corn field surrounding providence, spirits protect their sacred land and its family’s secrets. Garden monsters, reanimated scarecrows, the legendary bunny man, and a family of cannibals now roam the grounds. In 1987, at the height of the butcher brother family murder spree of hanover, bodies of multiple campers from camp ashland were found in the area. Rabbit’s cry field is an outdoor corn maze filled with huge walk-through set-pieces, terrifying monsters around every corner, and takes you right to the middle of the witch’s woods.

Asylum Asylum

Redvyn asylum opened in 1868 as one of the first mental hospitals in virginia. It was built close to the ruins of an orphanage founded by the late emily redvÿn , who was accused and executed for practicing witchcraft. Only a select number of patients were admitted to the asylum under the care of dr. Caine, and operations were extremely private. Stories of the creepy doctor spread throughout the area and children would scare each other with nursery rhymes about dr. Caine, aka dr. Insane. In 1987, the counselors of camp ashland turned the abandoned asylum into a check-in and infirmary facility for the campers. Redvyn asylum is an indoor haunted house attraction filled with moving props, highly detailed scenes, and intense scares.

Tread quietly through winding maze of corn, careful not to crunch the stalks beneath your feet for fear that “they” will hear you. The Cornstalkers play with their victims, as the corn is their domain, and the night is when they are most active. Make your way through the moonlit rows right, then left… no… right. You will need to use your wits and conquer your fears to make it to the end of this haunted walk.

Temporarily Closed - Loud, crashing, rusty gears use to grind and rip the flesh off the bone of animals being slaughtered. Buzz saws pierce the air, as the overwhelming purr of heavy machinery vibrated the very ground you walked on in this sick and twisted factory. Years ago it was a booming business until madness, greed and power infected the owner. It started with a small accident...an employee slipped and severed a finger that ended up being ground up with the day’s beef product. Instead of shutting down, cleaning and recalling, the money hungry owner shipped out the meat not wanting to waste precious time or profits. And if he would have stopped there, he might have gotten away with it. But it got worse, way worse. Before long, he started slipping further into his derranged darkness realizing he could do just about anything in his factory. Shards of bone, hair and even teeth were found riddled throughout the ground meats. The owner had gone completely insane, fueled by the thrill of the slaughter. Nothing could quench his thirst for human blood, spilled across the cold, stained, concrete walls and floors. The authorities were contacted but it was too late. Almost all of his staff was slaughtered like livestock one fateful night and displayed like sides of beef hanging on rusty meat hooks stabbed through wrists and ankles. The authorities called in a SWAT team to capture the maniac but even they couldn't stomach the horrors that were within. The putrid stench of rotting human flesh filled the air. The maze of hanging corpses made navigating the facility almost impossible and the team soon pulled out and sealed the factory. Locals claim to hear a saw running late at night and see a flickering light coming from one of the windows. Is it possible the owner is still around after 30 years living off the corpses of his employees? Find out for yourself as you journey through this stomach churning, and sickening, factory of terror!

Since then the Haunted Hall has expanded to include not only the house but also four tents, backyard areas, and one giant vortex! The Haunted Hall typically has a number of classic favorites such as Wolfman, Frankenstein, and Zombies. The Haunted Hall also prides itself on its original props and scenes such as Bug Boy and the Reverend Emmett Rotts. This year the Haunted Hall features more than 20 scenes with several new scenes you won't want to miss! In addition there will be old favorites returning including the Hellavator, Dracula, and the Bate's Motel. We have lots of other surprises in store for you this October!
